CFRP APPLICATION IN THE
AIR AND SPACE INDUSTRY



Low weight is of very high importance in the Air & Space Industry. Therefore, carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts are increasingly used. The high rigidity and stability of CFRP have led to its breakthrough in the Air & Space Industry a long time ago.



Metallic materials can easily be replaced. Especially in the Space Industry the use of CFRP is obligatory, whereas the Air Industry uses more glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP). However, those GFRP parts are usually built as single shell or sandwich constructions in order to reduce their weight.
