CFRP APPLICATION IN THE
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

Light weight constructions and materials are not only used in racing, but increasingly in series’ production vehicles. One reason for that is among others the responsible use of the world’s resources. The driving force towards innovation by using CFRP parts in series’ production has always been the racing sport. The know-how gained there is transferred to serial parts.

Light construction and light materials lead to lighter vehicles and save fuel without having to relinquish high safety standards. Fiber composite material not only enhance weight optimized constructions, but also integrated designs. The advantages of composite materials can not only be employed for covers or linings, but especially in structural parts.

The advantages of CFRP in the Automotive Industry

  • integrated construction
  • fuel saving through weight reduction
  • corrosion resistance
  • high swinging stability
  • good crash characteristic in connection with GFRP
  • good damping characteristic
